INJECTION MOLDING RAPID PROTOTYPING
Atlantic Precision Products can also offer you the fastest way to get real prototype parts, made from real materials, with Rapid Prototyping services.
Rapid prototyping — also called Solid Freeform Fabrication — is accomplished through a computerized additive layering process. First, a 3D computer generated image of the part is sliced into layers. The coordinates of each slice are then fed into a specialized computer that directs a laser (using X and Y axis directions) to cure or sinter the cross section (slice) of the part.
This process is repeated until the height of the part is completed. Build time can range from as little as one hour, up to several hours, depending upon the part’s volume, mass & height.
RAPID PROTOTYPING SERVICES
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA) are the two leading technologies that afford the rapid development of prototypes. SLA technology holds closer tolerances and offers a smoother product finish than SLS. However, SLA uses an epoxy based resin system to create prototype parts, so SLA parts are not as strong or durable as SLS prototypes.Atlantic Precision Products’ engineers are highly experienced in Rapid Prototyping, and can help you select the most appropriate rapid process for your unique plastic product needs. Our Rapid Prototyping options can help you meet even the most stringent time demands, while helping to ensure production of the highest quality plastic products.
